THE BRAIN BOX This project starts with the premise that our brains are what is uniquely us - our personalities, constituent feelings, and perceptions. It is at its core a portrait project. Much of our important mental activity, including emotions and perceptions, occurs unconsciously. Neuroscience lifts that veil of unconsciousness; it is the science of our brains studying themselves. This project explores the process whereby people become aware, and represent to themselves and others, their deepest thoughts and feelings. What kinds of visual images do people use? How are these images expressed, and what does that have to do with an "art experience?" |
